For the first night, he was fairly good.
Yes he cried for a while when he woke up. He woke about 4 times during the night and Angie started to get him into the habit of going to the toilet as soon as he woke up. When he woke, he yelped in his little squeak, which could be loud at times. Angie carried him outside every time to go to the toilet, which was a success. He only missed once going on the floor in the kitchen for a pee.
From 4am, he was quite vocal, but soon learned to sleep in his bed.
First feed at 8am which he loved.
Poor Angie, she was knackered by the time it came to the morning. To assist, Georgie and Pete took turns in looking after little Sarchie and taking him to the toilet outside in the back garden everytime he woke up. He was very good, and Angie managed to grab some sleep when Sarchie went back to bed to go to sleep. Luckily, because of his age, he soon crashed and burned after a short period of being played with and slept for up to a couple of hours.
We all knew when he woke, as he would make his little yelps, not helped by Katy who would hiss at him and make him worse. Sarchie soon learnt that Katy was the boss and she was to be left alone. When she hissed, that was the time for him to back off and play with his teddy! Katy was very good however, although she hissed, she never had a go at him. Maybe it was that we were there to stop her, or just that she was making her point!
Time for photographs:
This is a selection of the first photographs with Sarchie in his new home. You can see he loves his teddy and soon goes to sleep. You can get an idea of his size, by the photo of him sat on top of the ‘Argos’ book!
He was soon getting used to his bed and sleeping in his cage, but did NOT want the door closed at any time.
He continued to sleep in the front room and Angie sleeping on the sofa, waking up every couple of hours to take him outside to go to the toilet.
He was restless for the first hour or so until he would fall asleep. Wake up again and make noise from 4am. It soon became a tell tale sign, that when his eyes started to go red at the bottom, he was getting tired.
We continued to take him out to the back garden to get him into the habit of going to the toilet every time he woke up. Only had one accident in the kitchen, when he started to go number 2’s on the puppy pad before he went outside. No problems, as soon cleared and didn’t happen again.
