Berghaus Freeflow 20 IV Daysack Customer Reviews:

Great activity rucksack.  I bought this rucksack to carry essential kit for a day whilst cycling the coast to coast and it has proved excellent for any activity very comfortable. Review By: CJ11, Suffolk, May 2010.
Great backpack.  It was cool to wear on a really hot trek, excellent piece of kit. Review By: Wadous, June 2010.
After having used a Berghaus Zeus 20 daysack for many years I decided that the time had come to change. It was causing me to sweat uncomfortably around the back within half an hour on most walks.
After looking at what was available I settled on the Freeflow 20 IV Daysack as a replacement, not least because of my trust in Berghaus, but also because of the Air Mesh system and the EVABreathe specification. What I wanted to do now was to compare the performance.
I chose to repeat a familiar walk on the minor country roads in the rolling countryside of our beautiful part of rural France. The target was 18km in 3 hours, carrying exactly what I would normally carry and wearing the usual clothes. Setting off at 8.00 on a misty, yet otherwise unremarkable summer morning, the sun did not take long to break through. By midday, as I relaxed after the walk, the temperature was 24c.
So, how did I find the new daysack? Really good. It was comfortable and cut down considerably on the sweating. It would be untrue to say that I didn’t sweat at all in the small of my back but this was nowhere near as bad as usual. It may just have reflected natural sweating from brisk walking and I did not feel that I had to alternate carrying shoulders to lessen the problem. At home I noticed that I had sweated a little around the hip straps.
For me, the Freeflow 20 IV proved more than just fit for purpose. Any downside? Well the frame seemed to make loading the daysack more difficult than with the Zeus 20, though no doubt, I will learn to pack things differently. I also missed the external horizontally zipped compartment on the Zeus, so useful for keeping certain things close at hand. The vertically zipped external compartment on the Freeflow was less useful and I had to root round the bottom of the sack itself to find what I needed – though I’ve now learned to take a small zip top travel bag for such things. One final minor gripe was the chest strap which seemed quite constraining, though perhaps I just need time to get used to it.
Do I have any regrets over buying the new daysack? None whatsoever. Would I recommend it to a friend? Absolutely. Review By: Anonymous, France, Aug 2010.
