Today started with Sarchie going to Ravenglass to go on the ‘Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway.
For all you trainspotters out there, it is England’s oldest narrow gauge railway built in 1875 to transport iron ore from Eskdale to the coast at Ravenglass. It stopped transporting iron ore in 1960 and is now one of the Lake District’s most popular tourist attrations…..and Sarchie insisted on being part of it!
We started at Ravenglass, following a pub lunch at the local pub next door, then travelled along the 7 mile journey to Eskdale along the steam train. Stopped for about 20 minutes, then turned around and went back.
Sarchie was very well behaved all the way there and back
Then it was off to the beach that was close by just north of Ravenglass for a quick run before it was time to go back to the cottage.
